A day at the Awards

First Light Awards"The day started with coffee and croissants in Sound. Unfortunately the celebrities did not turn up for that. There were four badges on the door for us, so me, Neelma, Nicky, and Sherylee went in, with plans to swap half way through.

Steve Causer from Frequency Magazine came in on his press pass. Later, David, Phil, Stu and the girls turned up and blagged their way in, so that was good.

We did a few TV interviews. Steve interviewed our direct rivals, and the girls then went over and talked to them.

Then we all tramped over to the Odeon (not the same one that the BAFTAs were in). Konnie Huq did a brilliant job as MC - very entertaining. Each award was given out by a different celebrity. Ours was given out by Anthony Minghella (who the girls had never heard of!). The celeb read out the three nominees and then we saw short clips from each. Then they talked about how hard it was to pick between them and then subtly started describing the winner, so you get that tension as you slowly realise they are talking about your film. At that point, the girls (who were scattered around a bit), started leaning over the seats and gaping at each other. Then the six of them went up, staggered through their speech, leaving out half of it. Then they went off to a media circus.

We all milled around in the lobby, whilst First Light staff urged us to leave. Neelma got her picture taken with Konnie Huq, and the Weasley twins. She also asked Gurinder Chadha (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0149446/) for a work experience opportunity. These girls have balls!

Stu had to go back to work then, but the rest of us went for a Chinese, with the award plonked in the middle of the table.

Then Steve and David had meetings, so Phil, the girls and I went on the London Eye, walked across to HP and got the tube back to Paddington.
